Infotags-Projekt
Heute gibt es mal etwas in eigener Sache und quasi den Beweis, dass ich mich schon seit längerem mit mobilem Tagging beschäftige. Gemeinsam mit meinem Studienkollegen Christoph haben wir im Rahmen unseres Studiums an der FH JOANNEUM sogar kurzzeitig eigene Tags entwickelt, sind aber relativ schnell auf Semacodes umgestiegen und haben das SDK von Semacode verwendet.
Ziel dieses Projektes war die Entwicklung eines mobilen Service um orts- oder objektbezogene Informationen auf einem mobilen Endgerät darzustellen.
Dieses Projekt war ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Vertiefung “UPM” im Studiengang “Informationsmanagement”.
Neben der Entwicklung des Produktes, wurde die Marke gebildet (Design und PR) und ein Business Plan geschrieben.

twibble, twitter meets GPS
Surfing around on Nokia’s Nseries site I discovered something really interessting.
twibble – this is the first time I see something useful in the twitter service. With twibble you’re able to combine the idea of twitter to send sort messages to your friends and your location data. So twibble answers not only the question what you’re doing, but also where you are.
twibble uses the internal GPS of the Nokia N95 (and maybe of the Siemens SX75) or another device supporting J2ME’s Location API and sends the position to twittervision and twittermaps. Other devices use the city name for the positioning.
twibble enables location-based micro-blogging.
GPS to control kids
30% of Disney Mobile’s subscribers use GPS location-tracking services once every other day, and about 70% come from the handset.
Disney Mobile is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), which was founded last year and has special services for families.
It’s up to you if you find this kind of control good or bad. This service offers some good possibilities for parent for younger kids, but I can’t imagine that in Europe such a service would be accepted.

Geotagging with ZoneTag
ZoneTag is a software for your phone developed by YAHOO! Research to upload photos to flickr straight from your phone.
This wouldn’t be something to mention but ZoneTag also supports geotagging. Which a GPS-enabled device your photos are tagged with the location of your current position and will be positioned on the photo-map within flickr.
